Abby L. Ferber, director of a national center that explores how race and ethnicity intersect with privilege and oppression, will deliver a lecture at the University of Pittsburgh titled "'There Is More to Me Than White': Moving From Whiteness Studies to Privilege Studies"
In her own words: "As a Professor of Sociology, and Women's Studies and Ethnic Studies, all of my work is committed to advancing social justice. My first book was White Man Falling: Race, Gender and White Supremacy and most recently I co-edited Sex, Gender, and Sexuality: The New Basics. I direct The Matrix Center for the Advancement of Social Equity and Inclusion, work with the national White Privilege Conference, and co-founded and co-facilitate the Knapsack Institute, a national curriculum transformation project."
