Barbara John (18 January 1938) is a German CDU politician, a former elementary school teacher and political scientist. From 1981 to 2003 she was a commissioner for foreigners of the Berlin Senate. Since her retirement in 2003 she has continued to be involved in migration issues, for example in the federal Anti-Discrimination Agency and as ombudswoman for the victims of the National Socialist Underground.
John believes that the trend towards Germans becoming minorities in their own cities is irreversible, and that this will change many things, sometimes making them better.
John is a patron of the Show Racism the Red Card society, together with Romani Rose and Aydan Özoğuz.
