Gillette is a brand of safety razors and other personal care products including shaving supplies, owned by the multi-national corporation Procter & Gamble (P&G).
Gillette launched an ad campaign lecturing men about their “toxic masculinity.” The ad presents natural, masculine behavior as evil and wrong. It also stereotypes men as bullies obsessed with sexually harassing women and grilling meat. Furthermore, there are subliminal racial messages, the advertisement features a black man stopping a white man from flirting with a white woman on the street – apparently to protect her dignity – and another one stopping a white men from flirting again.
