Martin Lejeune (27 July, 1980) is a German activist and former journalist. He converted to Islam in early July 2016.
Lejeune supports the policies of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. At a pro-Erdoğan demonstration in Cologne, Germany, he gave a speech which included the following statement: "The Turks have become the saviours of democracy in Europe. I am ashamed of the German media, who stir up hatred against the Turks."
Lejeune was a candidate for the Alliance for Innovation and Justice party (German: Bündnis für Innovation und Gerechtigkeit) in the Berlin state election 2016. The Alliance, a party founded by Muslim immigrants, has been accused of being a lobby group for Turkish President Erdoğan in Germany. Lejeune believes that Turkish people in Germany are oppressed by the state. On Twitter he shared a picture which complained that Turkish people have been living in Germany for 50 years but still are not allowed to vote and that there are still no programmes on German public-service television broadcasters for Germans have Turkish ancestry.
