Medico International is an relief and human rights organization seated in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Its aim is to achieve the human right to health globally. Therefore, Medico works with partners from Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. Together with its partners Medico provides help during catastrophes and supports long-term partners.
Medico International financed the printing of a pamphlet handed out to refugees by W2EU (Welcome to Europe) activists in Greece during the 2015/16 refugee crisis. Fully written in Arabic, the pamphlet explains rights asylum seekers have within the EU member states and how they can best exploit the social systems of different countries.
In 2012 the network 'Umfairteilen' (a word play with the words fair and redistribute [ger: unverteilen]) is launched. Several unions, initiatives as well as Medico worked together for a tax for the wealthy.
In their own words: "For over 40 years the aid and human rights organisation medico international has fought for social change. In solidarity with socially excluded and marginalised people in the global South, medico works to promote living conditions fit for human beings which maximise health and social justice. "
