Mervyn Taylor (born 1 December 1931) is an Irish former solicitor, Labour Party politician and government minister. He was born to a Jewish family in Dublin.
In the 90s, Mervyn Taylor introduced some of the most comprehensive anti- discrimination legislation anywhere in the world.
According to the book "Politics in a Changing Ireland 1960-2007: A Tribute to Seamus Pattison" he was largely responsible for ensuring that the 1996 divorce referendum was passed. Abolishing the article 41.3.2 which stated "No law shall be enacted providing for the grant of a dissolution of marriage."
